"Bubble as the cosmic symbol for a new stage in human awareness. Bubbles and many other similar round shapes can be found in nature as well as in man-made technology. Light and shock-absorbing, bubbles are common in sports shoes and many other objects of contemporary design. Like the atom, our Universal Bubble has two polarities that illustrate the tension between two general opposing trends: The concept is not new. New is the growing aspiration to the interactive coexistence of these opposing trends, culminating into a new That over the positive and negative feelings of Hope and Anxiety. Awareness is the key attitude for success in Sports, and it's probably the most directional message for the new Millennium. The really new trend in active sportswear is the alliance of nature and technology, the savvy use of tradition and function, which is also reflected in the more daring colour combinations that can be allowed through the Definitive version of the IDEAS Color Card. The classical and neutral nature-inspired colors of the ARCTIC and DISCOVERY families on the left of the Bubble are in contrast with new technological HYPERCOLORS (BY 3M) on the right*, which can be rendered also in toned-down hues, depending on the application. The pale and sensual aerial ARCTIC tones at the top point to the attitude of Hope, and they are naturally capped by white. The COSMIC dark colors at the bottom denote the attitude of Anxiety, and they go with black (including Black Reflective by Schoeller). In the middle of the Bubble, we find the METALLICS (by Pantone and Chomarat), with their strong spiritual and technological charge. They are placed next to the BRIGHTS - a relatively classical range of signal/icon colors that help guide us in our spiritual and physical development. The colors are basically the same as those already proposed in mid-March under Vittorio Giomo's vision, which include proposals by Yvonne B. and other members of IDEAS, but they are arranged and named differently. The Pantone reference numbers are given in the Preliminary Color Card, except for the fabrics supplied by 3M, Chomarat and Shcoeller, which are identified by indentures on one side*."
